The MIT University of Meghalaya was filled with energy during the Jovan University Fest, a week-long celebration aimed at promoting social well-being, teamwork, physical fitness, and showcasing diverse talents.



The festivities commenced on March 18, 2024, marking the beginning of a series of activities to showcase their talents and articulate their thoughts including Extempore speeches and Debates, centred around the theme of “Cross Culture and Tradition” celebrating the rich tapestry of their cultures.



The second day of festivities brought a vibrant and sporty atmosphere to the campus with students dressed in sporty attire all set to take part in sports activities including Football, Basketball, and Tug of war. Shifting towards a more physically engaging day, building spirit of unity and enthusiasm. The third day took a nostalgic turn with the &#8216;Back to School&#8217; theme, inviting students to dress up in school uniforms from their past. In line with the theme, students engage in a series of classic and recreational activities like Bull&#8217;s eye, Carrom, Chess, and an added twist to the day with Stand-up comedy; a chance for students to showcase their wit and humour. The fourth day featured vibrant celebrations and culinary creativity, as students participated in Face Painting displaying intricate face designs, and showcasing their passion for food preparing a variety of dishes at the Food Fest stalls.



All students embraced the spirit of nostalgia, dressing up in outfits reminiscent of past eras, for the “Retro Attire” for the day. As the fifth day unfolded, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation, with solo dancers, groups, vocalists, and instrumentalists eagerly taking their turns to hit the stage. The stage became a canvas for self-expression, where students poured their hearts and souls into their acts, captivating the audience. The day aimed at forging friendships, building memories within each and every student, giving them a chance to select their “Twinning Attire”.



The grand finale of the Jovan University Fest came to a close on March 23, 2024, at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.

The School of Design at Avantika University conducted a Screening and Student Talk on Elements of Game Design, Fundamentals of Animation 2D, and Editing and Cinematography on Thursday, March 28th, 2024. The screening captured the essence of the creative endeavors of the students. The students had put forward their work, providing insight into their days of hard work. The screening featured a selection of films, animation works, and elements of game design, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the diverse talent nurtured within the students of animation and game design programs/electives.

The School of Design at Avantika University hosted an exciting Animation Exhibition on Friday, 29th March 2024. The Exhibition was spearheaded by the students of 3rd year B.Des and M.Des course. It showcased a variety of semester projects, under the able mentorship of Ms. Yashwini Solanki. The projects ranged from animation basics to 3D CGI looks, expressing emotions through animation, designing characters, and short films. The event was graced by dignitaries and students alike, instrumental in motivating the students to excel in their fields of study.

Tamanna Datta, Aastha Shori, Varshitha Kodavati, and Sherwin D&#8217;costa of B.Des Second year (Spatial Design) from the School of Design at Avantika University are proud winners of the North Zone and secured 3rd place at the 21st edition of the Society Interiors &amp; Design Competition 2024. It is a pan-India-level zonal competition for Architecture and Design. The students achieved the milestone, under the mentorship of Nidhi Nashikkar, Assistant Professor, at the School of Design.

MIT Institute of Design hosted the Annual Meet of SIAM Design and Styling this year. Design heads of major automobile companies in India attended the meet at MITID™ campus at Loni Kalbhor to discuss the future road map to strengthen the automotive Design ecosystem in India.



SIAM Design and Styling group is part of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) which is the apex Industry body representing 46 leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India. SIAM is an important channel of communication for the Automobile Industry with the Government, National and International organisations. The Society works closely with all the concerned stake holders and actively participates in formulation of rules, regulations and policies related to the Automobile Industry. One major focus area for SIAM is to facilitate up gradation of capabilities of the Indian Industry to match the best practice worldwide. Government of India as proposed the ADI (Automotive Design Initiative) which is managed by SIAM. The objective is create a long term sustainable roadmap to ensure the creation of a Design Ecosystem through proper training and mentoring of requisite skill sets for the Indian Automotive sector.

Two students from the School of Design at Avantika University won the prestigious Battle of Projects award. Atharva Kulkarni (ID Final Year Student) won the 1st Runner-up award in Mobility Design Category and Neha Kanade (CD Alumni Student) won the 1st Runner award in Graphic Design Category at the Pune Design Festival held in Pune.

EHSAS, a short film written &amp; directed by our alumnus Ashutosh Kumawat (M. Des. 2021-23) has won Best Script Writing award at the 25th CEC-UGC EDUCATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.



Ashutosh is honored with a Certificate of Merit and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 from the Consortium for Education Communication for his exceptional work on “Ehsas,” his second-semester end film in 2021
